Courses for Causes

Doreen has been nominated for the Alexander Daniels Offshore-sponsored Pride of Guernsey’s Customer Service of the Year Award for her services to the Cheshire Home charity shop and its customers.

Nominated by customer Carol Priaulx, Ms Homer has been put forward on more than one occasion for the award.

‘Steadfast, loyal, kind, caring and generous – all of these describe Ms Homer,’ said Ms Priaulx.

‘At 81 years old she still travels up to two hours every day on the bus to open up her charity shop for her beloved Cheshire Home.’

Ms Homer is always cheerful, she listens to customers, she laughs and cries with the customers, all the time working hard sorting, pricing, cleaning and running the whole shop.

‘With only a few hours’ help one afternoon a week, her welcome and service to her customers is warm and sincere,’ added Ms Priaulx. ‘This lovely lady is a treasure.’

‘I am so thankful to have been nominated for the award,’ said Ms Homer, ‘I am thankful that my customers are showing they appreciate what I do here.’
