Guernsey Super Vets Raise over £5,000 for the Cheshire Home!
The recent over 50s inter-insular raised over £5,000 for the Guernsey Cheshire Home.
This was the second year of the Guernsey Super Vets took on Jersey, the evening before the Muratti Vase. The match was organised by Paul Ockleford, a member of the Home’s Board and the Guernsey Super Vets. This year the match had the added interest of Matt Le Tissier pulling on the Guernsey shirt, Le God proved a real crowd puller with over two thousand people turning up to watch the Guernsey football legend and show their support for a good cause. Unfortunately, Guernsey couldn’t retain the trophy as Jersey won a close encounter with a late goal.
The organisers Phil Corbet, Cameron Ingrouille and Paul Ockleford was keen to thank people for getting behind the game, “”A huge thank you to every person who came along to support the fundraiser, we must also thank the sponsors who made the game possible and in particular to thank Matt (Le Tissier) for his time and efforts to make the game a special ocassion.” “We are delighted with the amount we managed to raise for the Home and hopefully next year we can win back the trophy in Jersey”
The Guernsey Super Vets has raised over £10,000 in the past 18 months for the Home.
Prior to the match Le Tissier visited the Home to meet some of the residents and sign programmes and shirts.
A cheque for £4,000 from the Guernsey Super Vets was presented to Nic Mountain, Home Manager, by Cameron Ingrouille from Le Mont Saint Garage Limited who is a member of the Guernsey Super Vets.
A further £1,150 was also raised, making a grand total of £5,150! In addition, the Guernsey Super Vets presented the Jersey Cheshire Home with a cheque for £500 totalling the amount raised for Jersey to approximately £1700 in total the game raising nearly £7,000.
