Final Hour Appeal – Cheshire Home
To celebrate 15 years in business in 2022, Focus is looking to support a number of local charities and initiatives within the community as part of the Focus 15. We are delighted to confirm that The Guernsey Cheshire Home has been selected as one of our chosen Charities at Focus.
The Guernsey Cheshire Home has one aim: to provide care and opportunity for people with serious physical disabilities in as close to a family atmosphere as possible. Equally important though, is the preservation of dignity and individual independence, and providing residents with the absolute right to live a life of their own choosing within a family environment. The Home is a unique facility that for more than thirty years has been providing a high level of care for islanders with serious physical disabilities such as multiple sclerosis, spinal injury, strokes, motor neurone disease, arthritis and the effects of accidents. It provides a home for people who need constant care and are unable to live in their own home.
Focus director Katie Bellingham, sits on the Board of the Guernsey Cheshire Home, and Focus has have joined in partnership with them for the Final Hour Appeal.
Final Hour Appeal
Each year the Guernsey Cheshire Home needs to raise £600,000 to keep its doors open and the Final Hour appeal is one of its major fundraising events.
The idea is simple – we encourage everyone to give the Final Hour of their March salary and, to make it simpler, we encourage employers to make it possible through their payroll. As HR and Payroll specialists, this is a scheme close to our hearts.
Becky Machon, Director of Focus, said ‘Focus are proud to be sponsoring this event in order to help raise funds for the Cheshire Home. Only a small donation from everybody will go such a long way to helping those who need it most and Focus is delighted to offer our support for this worthy cause. We will be encouraging and enabling our team and our clients to get involved.”
Home manager Nic Mountain explains Final Hour is a small gesture that could have a huge impact: ‘Without the home, the options for a fulfilling life for those living with disability would be very limited,’ he said. ‘The Final Hour is one of those things where a small individual act replicated many times has an enormous collective impact. Fundraising is always a challenge, but the last few years have been particularly testing with most fundraisers cancelled, I thank people in advance for their kindness.’
How can you get involved?
If you are an employer, you can arrange a payroll payment directly to the Home’s account by contacting Karen at the Home on admin.cheshirehome@suremail.gg or 01481 720578.
Use the Final Hour Calculator to work out your final hour wage or contact Focus for further advice. You can of course donate more if you wish and some employers may wish to enhance or match the contribution made by their employees.
Focus Clients
As a payroll client of Focus, we are going to make this even easier. If your company would like to participate, please let us have a list of your employees who would like to be involved and we can arrange to make the deduction from their payroll in March. Staff can opt to donate an hour of their pay or a set amount, all of which will be administered by Focus with no additional charge.
As a business, should you wish to contribute or match the contribution of your staff, we would also be happy to facilitate this. We will then make the contribution to the Guernsey Cheshire Home on your behalf. Contact Katie on katie@focushrs.com.
