Guernsey Cheshire Home Continues to Explore Future Development Opportunities
The Guernsey Cheshire Home has received a positive response following its recent appeal to land and property owners as part of its long-term vision to secure a future purpose-built Cheshire Home.
Since launching the appeal in February, the charity has received a number of responses from landowners and property owners interested in supporting its plans for the future, with several potential sites and properties being put forward for consideration. The Board would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to get in touch and engage in discussions.
While some opportunities have not proved suitable, discussions continue regarding a number of potential sites, with the charity actively exploring several options in greater detail.
Rob Shepherd, Chairman of the Guernsey Cheshire Home, said:
“We have been encouraged by the response and are grateful to everyone who has taken the time to contact us. Although some options have not been feasible, we are continuing to explore a number of opportunities that have arisen as a result of our appeal.”
“Finding the right location for a future purpose-built Cheshire Home is a significant decision and one that requires careful consideration. We remain committed to identifying a site that will allow us to continue providing exceptional care for islanders living with severe physical disabilities for many years to come.”
For those who may have missed the charity’s original appeal, the Guernsey Cheshire Home is exploring options for the long-term development of a future purpose-built Cheshire Home that will ensure it can continue meeting the needs of residents for decades to come. The charity is keen to speak with landowners or property owners who may have suitable land or property that could support this vision.
“We remain keen to hear from anyone who may have missed our original request and believes they may have land or property that could support the future development of the Cheshire Home,” added Mr Shepherd. “There may be opportunities that have not yet come to light, and those conversations could play an important role in helping us secure the right long-term solution for our residents and the charity.”
The exploration of future development opportunities forms part of the charity’s long-term strategy and has no impact on the day-to-day operation of the current Home, which continues to provide specialist residential care and support for its residents.
The Board remains committed to keeping the community informed as plans progress and will provide further updates when there are significant developments to share. The Guernsey Cheshire Home would also like to thank islanders, supporters and local businesses for their continued encouragement and support as the charity looks towards its future.
