Nessi Gomes to give acoustic charity performance for Guernsey Cheshire Home’s 30th anniversary
Guernsey born musician, Nessi Gomes, will be holding a one-off acoustic performance to raise much-needed funds for the Guernsey Cheshire Home.
A limited number of only 100 tickets * are available for the intimate performance on Thursday 3 May, and a number of residents from the Cheshire Home will be invited to attend. Nessi, a singer-songwriter from a Portuguese family, is known for channelling influences from both sides of her ethnicity into her music, blending the traditional, emotional and ‘larger than life’ Fado folk music with British contemporary inspiration.
She will play an all-acoustic set featuring songs from her acclaimed album, Diamonds and Demons. Law firm Mourant Ozannes will host the event in the Rotunda, located in their new premises at Royal Chambers, which forms part of a dedicated social space for the firm and has full disabled access.
The event also marks the 30th anniversary of the charity, which provides care and opportunities for people in Guernsey with serious physical disabilities.
Mourant Ozannes senior partner and chairman of the Cheshire Home, Robert Shepherd, said: “The Cheshire Home offers its residents a range of fun activities and a lively atmosphere so we are extremely grateful to Nessi for coming ‘home’ to support the organisation where she worked previously as an activities co-ordinator. Her performance is a wonderful chance for everyone to enjoy her music and raise funds for the Home.”
The Cheshire Home is a unique facility that for more than thirty years has been providing a high level of care for islanders with serious physical disabilities such as multiple sclerosis, spinal injury, strokes, motor neurone disease, arthritis and the effects of accidents. It provides a home for people who need constant care and are unable to live in their own home while preserving their dignity and individual independence.
* Tickets include a drink on arrival. Please note that the venue has limited seating and therefore not everyone is guaranteed a seat for the performance.
