A Quarter Century of Courage! Celebrate the 25th Annual Boxing Day Dip!
For 25 years, islanders have gathered on Boxing Day to embrace the cold in a powerful display of community spirit. Join us this year for a momentous milestone – the 25th Annual Guernsey Boxing Day Dip – and be part of a cherished tradition that warms the heart, no matter how chilly the water!
This iconic event is more than just a festive swim; it’s a vital fundraiser for the Guernsey Cheshire Home. The sight of Cobo Bay teeming with thousands of participants, many in spectacular fancy dress, embodies the incredible camaraderie and generosity of our island.
Last year, the community spirit shone brightly as individuals, families, and local businesses joined the fun. Let’s make our 25th anniversary the biggest and best yet!
The Plan:
- When: Friday, 26th December 2025
- Time: TBC (keep an eye on our Facebook page!)
- Where: Cobo Bay
Once you’ve done your bit in the waves, we’ll be there to warm you up with free mince pies and mulled wine.

A Huge Thanks to Skipton International
We couldn’t do this without the amazing team at Skipton International. They’ve been our proud partners since 2021, and their support is what helps make the Dip happen.
Charlotte Dunsterville, Skipton’s Chief Commercial Officer, puts it perfectly: “The enthusiasm and generosity displayed at the Skipton Boxing Day Dip never fails to inspire and this event truly showcases the best of Guernsey. We are proud to support the Guernsey Cheshire Home and extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants, volunteers, and donors who made this event a success.”
Skipton International has a proud history of supporting local community events such as the Boxing Day Dip. Known locally as ‘the bank with a heart’, it supports a number of community events across the Bailiwick, including the Skipton Swimarathon, which raised in excess of £80,000 for local good causes this year.
A Challenge for Guernsey’s Businesses!
Think your team has what it takes? The Dip is a fantastic way to have some serious fun outside the office and show your company’s community spirit.
Last year, the team from Northern Trust threw down the gauntlet, raising an incredible £2,100 by donating £100 for every minute they stayed in the water. What a challenge!
We’d love to see more businesses get in on the action. Why not:
- Get a work team together and see who can raise the most sponsorship?
- Pledge to match whatever your employees donate?
- Challenge your industry rivals to a friendly fundraising face-off?

Who You’re Helping
Every penny goes straight to the Guernsey Cheshire Home, providing round-the-clock care, dignity, and independence for islanders with severe physical disabilities.
The Home receives no States funding and must raise £1.5 million every year just to keep its doors open. Events like the Dip are absolutely vital to providing this care. As Chairman Rob Shepherd says, “The funds raised will make a lasting impact, helping us maintain the vital care we provide.”
